Positive review of the year marked by growth: BioRN annual general assembly


Members of BioRN Network e.V. met yesterday for the annual general assembly, a celebrative occasion to summarize major achievements and plan new assignments. BioRN is closing this year with a total of 143 institutional members. Success and growth were proofed with the presentation of the results from several projects BioRN has launched or supported. Start-Ups will be invited to the network with a special reduced member fee.


Heidelberg, Germany 07.12.2022 : It was the first general assembly after the pandemic the members attended in person to find out about the important milestones in BioRN´s positive development.

Julia Schaft, Managing Director of BioRN, and her team provided a snapshot on the extensive accomplishments in 2022, spanning from the growing visibility through the media presence and participation at key events, the increased demand for expertise of the BioRN team members, the success of the Annual Conference with the new exhibition concept and the achieved progress within the transfer and translational support projects.


Evotec’s BRIDGE beLAB2122 initiated several projects with the academic partners in Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Tübingen, confirming that the region offers the ideal ground for accelerating excellent projects from Academia to reach preclinical and clinical proof-of-concept.

Biolabs, Heidelberg´s new Life-Science co-working space for entrepreneurs is very well received and has won several new tenants and cooperation partners. BioRN as founding partner will keep supporting this development towards the opening of the 2,200 sqm building in Spring 2023. Furthermore BioRN presented the latest developments of the services along the translational value chain:The soft-landing services for SME´s in foreign markets (BiointeRNational) as well as the scouting project (BioRN Scout) are well received by the market.

The newly established Think Tank “Data Exchange - Innovation from region reaching the patient” has formed to work on concepts to simplify and harmonize the processes involved in exchanging health data for research projects. A positioning paper will be published in early 2023.



The members also approved reduced member fees from 2023 for young Start-ups. BioRN supports start-up initiatives by connecting with the regional stakeholders to drive business opportunities. At the same time the network benefits from the innovative impulses the entrepreneurs share - a perfect synergy.


“BioRN supports and promotes the fantastic Life Science ecosystem we have in the Rhine-Neckar region and ensures that science and industry are optimally interlinked. The constant increase of new members joining our network is a testimony for the value bioRN brings to the community – be it academic institutions, global healthcare players or SME´s and start-up”, concluded Gitte Neubauer (Chair of the Executive Board) before open the christmas reception, sponsored by the members Abbvie, BiomedX and Heidelberg Pharma.
