The RLP AgroScience GmbH is a non-profit limited liability company with the federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate as only shareholder. The AgroScience consists of two divisions/institutes, the AlPlanta – Institute for Plant Research (AlPlanta) and the Institute for AgroEcology (IFA). With its basic and applied research AlPlanta contributes to the objectives of environmental protection and user / consumer protection by implementing strategies in many of its projects to replace pesticides with low-side-effects and non-toxic alternatives, or through resistance breeding and / or marker development to optimize plant properties in order to minimize the use of pesticides and to make production sustainable. AlPlanta is involved in Bachelor and Master Programs of the University of Mannheim, as well as with lectures and internships at the Universities of Heidelberg and Hohenheim. AlPlanta cooperates with research institutions and universities, as well as with small and medium-sized companies in national and international projects.
