Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung IPA

Fraunhofer IPA – one of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft’s largest institutes – was founded in 1959 and employs nearly 1200 workers. The focus of their research and development work is on organizational and technological issues related to the manufacturing industry including the following sectors: automotive, machinery & equipment, electronics & microsystems, energy, medical engineering & biotechnology, and the process industry. The department »Clinical Health Technologies« at Fraunhofer IPA stands for the digitization of central areas of our society: medicine and biotechnology.

Their claim is to be a driver of innovation and to make central contributions to the medical care of the future. To this end, Fraunhofer IPA forms resilient networks and are pioneers in their fields. As part of CUBEX41 (Mannheim Centre for Foundations and Competencies in Medical Technology) they are in direct contact with the University Medical Center Mannheim and top-class start-ups. They use this environment to develop new ideas, to push them forward and to bring them directly into the clinic - whether within the framework of an informal exchange or a study. This makes them a unique partner of clinics and industry in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and beyond.
